There is little practical difference. The A550 sports a little better contrast ratio 30,000:1 versus 20,000:1.
Additional details: I saw the A550 & A530 side by side today at Sears. The difference in DCR is very slight. Once you have it in your home you will never know the difference. The A530 has a very nice picture quality. Go with the A530 and save the money; you will not be disappointed
