 “LED LCD TV” 2010-02-08
By Mike (Baltimore, Md.)
Great TV. The picture is about as good as you can expect from an LED LCD TV. The delivery was expertly done as was the connection to cable. It took a total of 15 minutes from the time the delivery truck parked in my driveway until I was looking at HD television.

 “Unbelievable” 2010-01-16
By T. Gardner (Bradford, VT United States)
I honestly did not know a television could be this good. We were watching it 20 minutes after it arrived. We got the optional Samsung wall mount, which holds the TV on the wall like a painting. The picture is astonishing; perfect resolution with HD, and I actually mean perfect. If you are thinking of a 46-inch flat screen, don’t hesitate. Buy this one.

“Good Picture quality. Internet option not very useful. Poor menu control” 2010-01-08
By Jay W (Nashville, TN USA)
Good Picture quality. Love the thinness of the TV. Black is very good, comparable to my great older Panasonic plasma TV. Many people have reviewed pros of the tv. I’ll focus more on the cons here.

Although the TV has internet connectivity, many of the functions are not very useful. To load Yahoo widgets, it takes forever. It doesn’t try to cache data even though bandwidth cost is very small. DLNA works well in a sense that it connects, however, to play a video file, you have to wait for quite a while for TV to play it. Simply unbearable.

Remote button is not very responsive. Not sure it’s TV processor being slow or poor remote quality.

TV’s previous channel function is not working as it should. If the “previous channel” is another source other than TV, it won’t work. All my previous TV can toggle between live TV channel and another input source if that source is used right before or after a TV channel.

To select an item in on-screen menu, you have to move up/down. That’s the only way. If there are multiple items between where you are and where you want the highlight to be, you have to press many times. There should be a number in each of the options so that it takes a maximum of 2 button clicks to select one item. I constantly switch between TV and Input Sources. I have to say that it’s a pain in the ass to do it.

 “Window of the Future” 2010-01-06
By Victor R. Peterson (New Jersey)
This TV seems to be less than an inch thick. Works with no adjustment necessary. Easy to put together. (Use 2 people to place it in the stand, don’t be the man you think you are) The frame rate technology makes for a tremendous, jaw dropping feeling of “wow, i finally made it” without breaking the bank.

 “Truly stunning picture!” 2009-12-28
By N. Williamson (Pacific NW)
The title says it all. I him-hawed for 2+ months reading and looking around and finally decided on the Samsung.

I was somewhat hesitant due to reviews downgrading the sound quality. I almost bought a Bose Cinemate II system at the same time to use for sound and am glad I did not. Mind you we use it as a TV and not so much as a theater system. I think the sound is just fine for TV programs and does OK for movies too. It has an SRS mode that certainly enhances the sound over the normal mode so it’s what we use. Clarity is good etc. I don’t think we’d even use a Bose system for normal viewing; only for movies.

I was also hesitant due to a review I read regarding some kind of lack-of-brightness anomaly in the screen center due to the edge LED’s vs full screen LED. I’ve tried to see whatever it was the person was referring to and can’t. It may have been while gaming which I do not do on this particular unit.

I am the last of my circle of friends/relatives to get a flat screen and am glad I waited. The LED and 120hz was worth the wait. The ‘circle’ owns Sony Bravia’s, Vizio’s, Sharp’s, Panasonic’s and they have all been amazed with the Samsung. I’m not bragging; merely pointing out there are an array of people with other nicely rated flat screens that have been impressed seeing this one so that speaks volumes. My son who has had HD for years was chuckling because he could not believe the level of detail he was seeing on the screen. I bring these comments in because I was understandably bedazzled as a new-to-HD person, but the others are all ‘veterans’ so to speak.

The bright black bezel surrounding the screen is initially distracting but becomes invisible after a day or so. It will however reflect bright lights, sun etc as it does on our set up but isn’t too bad. If one were offered with a matte finish I’d get it. The unit easily rotates +/- 20 degrees on the included stand which is welcome to help in reducing the bezel reflection (lots of windows in our house). I suppose thin screen would be nice for a wall mount but makes no difference to me on sitting on a TV stand as we use it.

Menu stuff seems fine. Takes some getting used to the additional items not found on a CRT/non HD set we had. Nice addition is the ‘baby’ remote. The ‘baby’ remote is a small second remote with a volume up/down & channel up/down disk and a power button. The main remote is in the drawer after initial set up.

Set up was easy - pretty much hooked up the HDMI and turned it on. Could be my ignorance showing up, but I like the fact the TV seems to have an auto detect mode for the signal. When we go from HD channel to a non HD channel the TV switches to the 4:3 screen mode automatically and puts the vertical bars in. The sets I’ve seen in my ‘circle’ do not seem to do that, so in non HD you’re watching people with stretched faces etc; maybe they never set it up? I don’t know. The Samsung was out of the box that way.

Definitely recommend.
